Description

The IT Consultant experts are required to know exactly how everything works and what is going on in the world of I.T. and telecommunications. They make sure that companies have the correct I.T. systems to meet their business needs and when inevitable glitches or mistakes occur, they know what needs to be done to allow businesses to get back on track.

The specialist advice that I.T. management consultants provide can focus on anything from software provision, systems design and analysis, to resolving information security needs, application architecture, or hardware implementation. However, in order to provide solutions to any I.T. issue, a huge bank of specialist information is required. That’s why most consultants specialize in certain aspects of I.T. consultancy and become industry experts in those specific areas.

I.T. consulting careers are heavily focused on the technical side of working with computers, networks, and I.T. systems. However, these careers also require people to have an in-depth understanding of the business side of things too. With this in mind, you will need to have a broad range of skills in order to assist your clients as accurately and effectively as possible.

A regulated qualification is delivered by a learning institution which is regulated by a government body. In England, the government body which regulates courses is Ofqual. Ofqual regulated qualifications sit on the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF), which can help students understand how different qualifications in different fields compare to each other. The framework also helps students to understand what qualifications they need to progress towards a higher learning goal, such as a university degree or equivalent higher education award.

An endorsed course is a skills based course which has been checked over and approved by an independent awarding body. Endorsed courses are not regulated so do not result in a qualification - however, the student can usually purchase a certificate showing the awarding body's logo if they wish. Certain awarding bodies - such as Quality Licence Scheme and TQUK - have developed endorsement schemes as a way to help students select the best skills based courses for them.
